Weekly Update Friday 10th May 2024
New this week….

SATs
Next week our Year 6 children will be taking part in SATs. They have worked incredibly hard towards these and we wish them the very best of luck.

School Uniform
As the weather has improved please can we ensure that children come to school with a sun hat, wearing sunscreen.  Don’t forget a waterproof coat, just in case.

Year 4 MTC check
As we approach the national multiplication check for year 4s, please may we remind parents of children in year 4 that they need to practising their times tables on TTRS each week. This will really support them with their confidence and fluency. Thank you.

Relationships and Sex Education (RSE)
A huge thank you to the wonderful group of parents from across both schools who came together on Tuesday evening to help as we review our federation policy on RSE.
Parents are recognised as children's primary educators for Relationships and Sex Education (RSE), yet many feel unprepared. Click below to access some useful information and resources for parents and carers. They are designed to support you in helping your child at each stage, to become more aware of themselves and others, to help them navigate the emotional and physical changes that take place during puberty, as well as learning about sex in the context of safe, loving relationships.

JAM Messy Church
Just a reminder that our next JAM session will be taking place in the school hall on Tuesday between 3:30 – 5:00pm. If your child(ren) would like to take part, please let Miss Mandelson know as soon as possible if you haven’t already done so. Thank you.

St Mary’s Youth Choir, Masham
It was lovely to welcome Ann Rudd from St Mary’s Church in Masham last week. Mrs Rudd joined the children for singing practice and chatted about the youth choir for KS2 children – a great opportunity for anyone who enjoys singing and making new friends. If your child is interested, please call into school for a flyer and information sheet or contact Ann on:

West Tanfield Methodist Church – Sunday 12th May
Sadly, Sunday will see the final service at the Methodist Church as it prepares to close its doors for the last time. We would like to thank the Methodist community for their support over many years, particularly with our annual Nativity service. There will be no Evensong at St Nicholas Church this Sunday as the congregation will be joining with our Methodist friends at 6.30pm for this special service. All welcome.

Forest School
Rocket Class (N,R,1,Y2) will be at Forest School on Wednesday 15th May. Please ensure all children have suitable clothing and waterproofs.
