WELCOME
…to Miss Grace Pawson who joined us this week ahead of taking up her new post as teacher of Rocket Class in September.  Miss Pawson will continue to work alongside Mrs Clegg for the next two weeks also.  Please do pop in to say hello to her if you haven’t already.  Mrs Clark and Mrs Fielder have also been in and out of school getting to know the Asteroids.  All three are looking forward to Tuesday when the children will move up into their new classes for a transition day.
We shall also be welcoming a student from SFX School for the week as she joins us to complete work experience.
 
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
A huge well done to all those who were involved in our summer production of Beauty and the Beast.  The children did us proud with two amazing performances at Masham Town Hall yesterday.  We have already had some lovely feedback from members of the community who really enjoyed the show.  Many thanks to all who have supported the two schools coming together, helping with all the logistics and transport.
 

WORD OF THE WEEK
Our next word to explore is: The children are encouraged to find out what the word means and perhaps use it in a sentence or explore its etymology.  Their efforts are then displayed in the hall.  Although aimed more at the KS2 children, everyone is welcome to join in.
 
Reminders…
FOREST SCHOOL
Forest school will continue on Wednesday afternoons for Rocket Class (Nursery – Y2) until the end of term.  Children should come to school in their uniform with a change of clothes and waterproofs in a bag ready for the afternoon.
In addition to this, Asteroid Class (Y3 – Y6) will have a Forest School session next Friday 10^th July to explore this half-term’s ‘golden thread’.  On this occasion, children may come to school dressed in their forest school kit and change into their PE kit for the afternoon.

Coming up…
END OF YEAR REPORTS
We hope to get end of year reports out to parents and carers next week.  For those children with SEND, their support plan will be included.  Please could you take the time to review this, add any comments you wish to make and sign, before returning to Miss Mandelson (SENCO).  You will then be provided with a copy to keep when they are reviewed formally in September.  As always, do not hesitate to get in touch with Miss Mandelson should you have any questions about the support your child receives.  You can email Miss Mandelson at:

SEND DROP-IN FOR PARENTS
Our area Educational Psychologist, Shirley Gunthe, is offering a drop-in meeting for parents.  This was originally due to take place at Romanby Primary School but is now due to be on line via a Teams link.
The session will be an opportunity for parents to ask questions around EHCPs, support for their child and also any queries regarding the role of an Educational Psychologist in education. The meeting details are in person and as below:

There will be a meeting for parents of new starters in the school hall at 2.30pm on Wednesday 8^th July.

SUMMER READING CHALLENGE
This year’s Summer Reading Challenge will take place from Saturday 4 July 2026 to Saturday 12 September 2026.
Turn up the volume on reading this summer as North Yorkshire Libraries, in partnership with The Reading Agency, invite children to discover the joy of reading through Read to the Beat! - the music themed Summer Reading Challenge for 2026.

MUSIC LESSONS IN SCHOOL
Is your child interested in learning an instrument?
Mrs Harris has a few spaces available for instrumental lessons starting in September. Piano lessons are offered from Year 2, and ukulele, recorder or singing from Reception. Lessons can be individual 20 minutes (£11/week paid half termly) or group (£8/week) where a suitable group is available.

SUPA SUMMER WORKSHOPS
If your child enjoyed taking part in Beauty and the Beast, they may be interested in one of SUPA's summer holiday workshops. Each year we enlist the support from SUPA to help produce our KS2 musicals. Please see the flyer below.
