Weekly Update 11.07.25
11 Jul 2025
We believe that our children should have the aspiration and opportunity to ‘Live life in all its fullness’ and ‘Shine like stars in the sky’.
SPORTING INFLUENCE
It was lovely to receive the email below from Mr V following his coaching sessions on Wednesday morning:
I just wanted to send you an email and say a big thank you for allowing us to run the cricket intra competition at West Tanfield this morning. I really enjoyed the morning and it looked like the children did too. The weather played its part, the children were fantastic and so were their cricket skills. There were some amazing catches, excellent fielding and a couple of 4's and 6's too . There was once again so much determination, encouragement and sportsmanship shown this morning along with a nice competitive edge to all games. It really was fantastic to see. The children can also be complimented on their fantastic behaviour this morning once again. The KS1 group also did a fantastic job this morning. They showed some amazing batting and fielding skills and were really safe and sensible when using the cricket bats.
It always makes us so proud to receive such positive feedback – Well done, children, you should be proud of yourselves too!

News from the wider community
WEST TANFIELD TENNIS CLUB
West Tanfield Tennis Club would like to offer children at St Nicholas Primary School the opportunity to play tennis, at no charge, on Friday afternoons during the school holidays. We intend to open the courts from 2.00 to 4.00pm on Friday afternoons, from the 25th of July until the 29th of August. The arrangement is that children can play providing they come with a parent/adult who will be responsible for their children’s behaviour whilst they are at the club. This year the club will provide coaching of the children whilst they are on the court. Also, children may bring a brother, sister or relative who is under twelve but who does not attend St Nicholas School. Should more turn up than there is court space then the coach will rotate the children as appropriate.
Rackets for the children will be provided by school and the club will provide tennis balls.

A polite reminder that if you send your child with grapes for snack or in their packed lunch they must be sliced lengthways to avoid being a choking risk.
