Weekly Update 09.05.25

09 May 2025

We believe that our children should have the aspiration and opportunity to ‘Live life in all its fullness’ and ‘Shine like stars in the sky’.

GOOD LUCK…
…to our Y6 children!  Next week marks an important time for our Year 6 pupils as they begin their SATs on Monday 12th May. We want to take this opportunity to say how incredibly proud we are of each and every one of them. They have shown outstanding effort, resilience, and dedication in the lead-up to these assessments, and we know they will approach the week with the same positive attitude and determination. Well done, Year 6 – you’ve got this!

STREET FOOD
There will be a special ‘street food’ party menu for school lunches on Thursday which includes chicken nuggets, veggie nuggets, skinny fries, BBQ beans and doughnut muffins.  All welcome to have a school lunch that day, including those who normally have packed lunch.  This will mean that chicken korma will now be served on Monday instead.

THANK YOU
Rocket Class were delighted to receive delivery of their new mud kitchen from ‘Ripon Men's Shed’ this week.  Barry, John and the team have been working hard over the last month to construct it for us and the children are already enjoying baking mud cakes and whisking up magical potions!
Thank you to Mrs Lancaster for removing the old mud kitchens and a huge thank you to the PTA and all who contribute to their fundraising efforts, as this purchase wouldn't have been possible without their generosity.

CAN YOU HELP?
We have been informed about a couple of items were mislaid last Friday:  a black shoe (size 35) and a school reading bag (possibly left in the park after school).  Please could everyone have a check around in case they have been picked up in error.  Neither item seems to be at school despite extensive searching.  Many thanks.

Reminders

LAST CALL…
for JAM Messy Church.  Many thanks to all those who have already signed up for Tuesday’s after-school JAM session.  Please let Miss Mandelson know by the close of Friday if your child would also like to attend, including confirmation for any child who would normally stay for a club that day, so that we have the correct numbers for catering purposes. You can email Miss Mandelson on senco@west-tanfield.n-yorks.sch.uk

SUN SCREEN
Where possible could we ask that long-lasting sun cream is applied before school, that will provide protection for the duration of the day, particularly for our younger children.  Staff are unable to apply sun cream for children.
